Less rain means one thing.
Fewer mosquitoes.
The hot, dry weather with little rain in the Okanagan isn't good news for possible forest fires, but mosquito numbers are lower locally than in recent years.
"The areas along the Mission Creek Corridor, along the Greenway traditionally have been active with higher creek flows during the spring. They (mosquitoes) have been a little below normal this year because of the drier conditions."
The Regional District's Bruce Smith say crews have been out since April treating well known mosquito larvae sites.
There are over 300 breeding locations in the district and they are routinely treated with larvae pellets.
The public can do their part by removing standing water sources from their own property.
