When Kelowna Gospel Mission Director of Development Mike Morrison received a phone call from Rocky Mountain Fitness, telling him that they had a donation for the Mission, he had no idea just how big that donation was going to be.
Upon arriving at the fitness equipment store, branch manager Rob Spencer presented Morrison with a cheque for $5,000.
"It was a great, great gift," says Morrison. "We've had our community stepping up, and I've found that we've had a few new donors. And it's exciting to see new companies coming up and putting their money towards the mission."
Rocky Mountain Fitness wanted to make a charitable donation, and saw homelessness as a serious issue. Now they hope to make an annual donation.
The Kelowna Gospel Mission operates a 90-bed shelter, and serves 500 to 600 meals a day to those in need. Donations from the community are critical in ensuring that all of this can continue.
