Three Kelowna RCMP officers were presented with the prestigious Bronze Medal by the Royal Canadian Humane Society, for rescuing a woman earlier this year.
On September 10th, a 30-year-old woman suffered a medical emergency while behind the wheel, and hit a pole near the Sheraton Four Point Hotel on Airport Way. Her car then burst into flames.
Constables Marvin Park, Lee Romanko, and Ryan Routley, were nearby, and pulled the woman out of the car. She was later taken to hospital.
19 recipients from across the province travelled to West Kelowna on October 26th to take part in the awards ceremony.
The Bronze Medal is reserved for Mounties who “show extraordinary disregard for their safety in order to save a life.”
