One of the two men arrested on William Bennett Bridge after fleeing from Mounties in Penticton in January has pleaded guilty and will spend another 75 days in jail.
25-year-old Michael Dennison pled guilty to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while disqualified and breach of a probation order on Thursday, March 23. 2 other charges against him were stayed.
He was sentenced to 6 months in jail for dangerous driving, in addition to 30 days for driving while disqualified and 1 day for breach of probation, served concurrently. With credit for time already served, Dennison will be behind bars for another 75 days.
In addition to jail time, he also received a $500 fine, a 2 year driving prohibition and 1 year probation.
On January 12, Dennison and 33-year-old Ryan Regan were pulled over in Penticton, but before officers could speak to them, they sped off. The two men evaded police until the Bennett Bridge, where they were stopped and arrested, shutting down traffic going into Kelowna for over an hour.
Regan pled guilty to flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a weapon last week, and will be sentenced after a pre-sentence report is prepared for May 11.
