A man was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital, Wednesday morning, after a fire at a building in the Central Green area.
Kelowna Fire crews were called to Chapman Place and Buckland Avenue to reports of visible smoke and flames coming from the roof of a three-storey townhouse under construction.
Firefighters rescued a man they found inside and he was rushed to hospital with burns to his body and smoke inhalation.
In an update: RCMP say the man has been flown to the Lower mainland for further medical care.
It's not known yet if he was squatting in the building or was one of the construction workers.
Platoon Captain Kelly Stephens says they managed to quickly douse the blaze.
"Damage was kept to a bare minimum. (The damage) was in the ceilings in the first and second units of the third floor into the attic space - (the fire) was contained to that," he says.
Fire department investigators and the RCMP are still working to determine a cause.
