Alberta business man Marshall Eliuk has had more than his fair share of health issues of the years. That's why he's decided to give the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation $1.4 million.
"I've had health issues," he says. "For example, in 2000 I wound up with aplastic anemia and lived on transfused blood for nine months. I was also receiving blood from Canadian Blood Services. So I said to myself one day I'm going to pay back. I think the success of my businesses in my life is to be fair and give back."
KGH Foundation CEO Doug Rankmore says he is humbled by Eliuk's generosity.
"Marshall is somebody who makes a difference,"he says. What he's done with his philanthropy and what he's earned in his life is inspiring."
Eliuk's gift tops up the KGH Foundation's $7 million fundraising campaign that will see the hospital become a full service cardiac facility.
