Though the Rockets lost out in the playoffs this year, Kelowna will still be represented at this week's Memorial Cup.
A delegation is headed to Regina this week to take in the event.
Mayor Colin Basran is joining members of the bid committee.
"The bid committee is headed up by Tom Dyas, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, as well a representative from Tourism Kelowna and representatives of the Kelowna Rockets, (and) are visiting Regina to take in some of this year's Memorial Cup, and to meet with some of the WHL Governors who will be making the ultimate decision come pitch time, and that actually takes placeĀ in October," he said.
He says they'll soak up the event like a sponge.
"Looking forward to seeing how Regina hosts this event, and bring back some of their good ideas, and maybe tweak some others."
The Rockets are bidding for the opportunity to host the 2020 Memorial Cup tournament, along with the Kamloops Blazers.
The Victoria Royals are also expected to throw their hat into the ring.
A decision will come in October, after final presentations are made.
