The two men arrested on William Bennett bridge yesterday morning will remain in custody over the weekend.
33-year-old Ryan Patrick Regan and 25-year-old Michael Anthony Dennison made their first court appearance earlier today.
Police say they pulled over the pair, driving in a “suspicious vehicle”, Thursday morning in Penticton, but they fled before offices had a chance to speak with them.
Police didn’t pursue but efforts were made to stop the two again in West Kelowna. They were finally stopped and arrested on the bridge at about 10:00am, which shut down eastbound traffic for about an hour, as several damaged cars had to be towed away.
Police haven’t said why exactly the two were pulled over in the first place or how they were stopped.
Regan and Dennison have been charged with flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Regan also faces additional charges of failing to stop at an accident, mischief to property over $5000 and assault with a weapon.
Their next court appearance is on Monday.
