An evacuation order has been issued for the entire City of Merritt because of flooding.
The City of Merritt is arranging for buses to take residents to both Kamloops and Kelowna.
A release from the City of Merritt reads - "The Wastewater Treatment Plant is inundated and non-operational and will be for an indefinite amount of time. Continued habitation of the community without sanitary services presents risk of mass sewage back-up and personal health risk."

If you are within the 200 year flood plain of the Coldwater River, South of Nicola Avenue you must evacuate immediately.
Residents under Evacuation Order should register at the ESS Reception Centre at 1950 Mamette Ave (Merritt Civic Centre).
Residents are also being asked to limit all non-essential water usage.
A statement from the city says the water processing facility is facing extreme challenges.
