The Central Okanagan School Board has decided on a name for its new middle schol in the Mission.
Board Chair Moyra Baxter says Canyon Falls Middle School was picked from a list of three finalists.
"At the planning and facilities committee meeting last month, three names were chosen by the committee to go forward. And those were Canyon Falls Middle School, Myra Canyon Middle School, and Ki-Low-Na Mountain Middle School," she said.
Canyon Falls was chosen at the Board Meeting on Wednesday night.
"We had a public meeting about the new school, and there weren't very many people there to be honest, but of the people who were there, Canyon Falls was the one that seemed to the be the most popular," said Baxter.
"So at the board meeting, it was moved that that should be the named of the school."
She says construction work hasn't started just yet.
"It hasn't started yet, but it is still planned that it will open in September 2019, so that gives us 18 months or so to get it built and finished, and that is the plan," she said
"We've got the architectural drawings, and it'll go out to tender, and that will be happening in the next couple months."
The new school is being built on Frost Road.
