The Winn Rentals World Mixed Curling Championships are off to a great start here in Kelowna.
The tournament features both men and women athletes from 35 different countries.
Team Canada, consisting of lead Lauren Harrison, second Sean Harrison, third Danielle Inglis, and coach Jim Waite, has been impressing so far with a record of 4-1. They're currently ranked third in the group A standings behind Slovakia and Norway.
While they lost 4-5 against Norway this past Sunday, they've notched wins against Austria, Slovenia, Japan, and New Zealand.
Jock Tyre, GM of the Kelowna Curling Club, appeared on the Early Edition Tuesday morning, and said there's still some room forĀ Team Canada to improve.
"It's early in the season, and the thing with mixed curling is that all of the players play at a mens team or a ladies team, they don't train as a mixed team" says Tyre. "So the longer that they go on, the stronger that Team Canada is going to get."
He says Canada isn't the only team to watch for during the weeklong tournament.
"Sweden is playing really well, and I don't know why, but the crowds have been crazy with cheering for Poland, because Poland I guess has no supporters, so a lot of people have taken PolandĀ under their wing."
Team Canada is back in action on Wednesday against Hungary.
