The BC Wildfire Service reports 16 wildfires in the Kamloops Fire Centre - the region includes the cities of Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton.
The closest fire to us is south of Penticton in the Skaha Lake ridge area off Highway 97 - it's under a hectare in size.
The Air Quality Index today could rise to moderate on Friday because of smoke - which is mostly from fires burning in northern Alberta.
Those fires have forced about 10-thousand people from their homes.
Alberta's Forestry Minister Devin Dreeshen says it's not expected to get any easier for firefighters with hot, dry windy conditions continuing through the weekend.
About five-thousand people have been out of their homes - in and around High Level - for more than a week.
Several smaller communities have fallen under evacuation orders.
