Kelowna RCMP are currently investigating a collision which has claimed the lives of 2 people.
At around 5 a.m. officers responded to a single vehicle collision at Highway 33 and Bryden Rd.
According to police, a grey Montana van had been travelling east bound on Highway 33 and had crossed over both lanes of traffic colliding with a tree near Bryden Rd. Two occupants, a female front passenger and a male rear passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
The 45-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and was transported by BC Ambulance to Kelowna General hospital where he remains in stable condition.
RCMP say the scene of the crash will be closed for several hours as they process the scene. Investigators are currently in the midst of trying to identify potential witnesses and canvassing the area for video surveillance in an effort to determine what caused the collision.
“This investigation is still in it’s early stages as members continue to determine how this collision occurred” said Cst. Lesley Smith.
Police have yet to confirm the identify of the deceased occupants of the vehicle. They are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the event or can assist with the investigation to contact the Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300.
