The Okanagan Boys and Girls Club has postponed tonight's Interior Savings Moonlight Movie Night. The Club was scheduled to show the animated movie 'Coco' in Kelowna City Park but they've had to postpone the event as a safety precaution.
“With it being so smoky out there and the Advisory saying that, for children, they should stay out of the smoke, we’re thinking that it is prudent on our part to ensure that we’re not putting them at risk,” said Richelle Leckey, the Club's Community Engagement Coordinator.
The Air Quality Index for the Central Okanagan, as of noon on Monday, August 13th, is at 10-plus. Anything above 7 is considered a high health risk.
Leckey said the Boys and Girls Club is hoping to re-schedule the fundraiser a few weeks from now. “We will definitely have information on our website, as well as our Facebook and Twitter and Instagram page. We’ll put it everywhere that we can.” August 27th is the tentative re-scheduling but no date has been finalized.
The Interior Savings Moonlight Movie Night is by-donation, and has already had summer pit stops in West Kelowna, Oliver, Vernon and Lake Country.
