An early morning robbery took place at the Naked Café on Lawrence Avenue in downtown Kelowna over the weekend.
“Employees showed up to work Sunday morning and realized that the door was jarred open so we realized there was a break-in,” says Naked Café employee Jason Webber. “Inside it was definitely rummaged through and we realized that our safe and two of our tills were gone.”
A total of $4,500 in cash was taken from the Café during the robbery.
Police believe that the thief, or thieves, broke into the Café at around 4:30 AM on Sunday, disabled the alarm system, and took off with the cash and items.
“I think that this was a targeted incident; I don’t believe it was random,” says Webber.
The Café had to remain closed all of Sunday morning – one of its busiest times of the week. Since Sunday afternoon, however, it has been operating as normal.
Kelowna RCMP continue to investigate the robbery and ask anyone with more information to call them at (250) 762-3300.
