Fortis BC thanks you for conserving natural gas. With all of usĀ helping, natural gas consumption is down about 20 percent province wide. This effort is vital for Fortis to maintain service to it's million customers while repairs are made to the pipeline near Prince George, damaged last week in an explosion. There is no timeline yet for repairs to be completed. Sean Beardow is Manager of Corporate Communications for Fortis. He says conservation will be the norm for some time yet.
Fortis has a number of their energy services reprentatives across the province meeting with businesses, both industrial and commercial, along with municipalities, to discuss actions they can take to join the conservation mission, if required. The City of Kelowna for example, has not yet cut back but is ready to do so when asked. It's a relatively easy proces. The city's thermostats are all controlled digitally and can be turned down quickly in all city owned buildings and storage facilities.
