Not everyone is keen on getting a flu shot. If you're not, consider the people around you says Kelowna London Drugs Pharmacy Manager Zack Stevens.
"They higher the percentage of everyone that gets vaccinated, the better the protection for those portions of the public who are more at risk," he says. "Even if you're healthy, getting vaccinated is going to help protect those around you, the elderly, the young, those with chronic conditions."
A London Drugs poll found four out of every ten people in British Columbia won't be getting a flu shot this year.
It found respondents had misconceptions about the benefits of getting a flu shot and concerns about the safety and efficacy of vaccines.
"Getting vaccinated is still the best defence against the flu," adds Stevens.
Nearly all (96%) of those who got a flu shot last year plan to get one this season, according to the poll.
