A new park on Lakeshore Road in Kelowna's Mission has a name - it's Bluebird Beach Park.
Councillors agreed with a staff recommendation to rename the park because its old name - Lakeshore Park - could be confusing as there are other parks along that long stretch of road.
Back in 2015 - the city acquired 2.9-acres, next to Bluebird Beach Access, for $12-million with the idea of adding it to existing city-owned waterfront property in the area.

In total, Bluebird Beach Park is to be 3.6 acres in size with over 705 feet of sandy beachfront - and amenities like washrooms, parking, and food servcies are also in the works.
Another name that was tossed around was Pondersoa Beach Park - a nod to the pine trees on the property.
