RCMP have confirmed that no one was hurt after a boat crashed into the log boom on Okanagan Lake in front of the Kelowna Yacht Club Sunday morning.
At around 3:30 am on May 12th, Kelowna RCMP and fire crews were notified of an abandoned boat that appeared to have crashed into the log boom near the yacht club.
Kelowna Fire and Rescue crews confirmed the vessel was empty - and after an in depth search of the surrounding area - they found no one in the water.
The boat was identified as a Black Tige RZ2 and was pointing vertical in the air with its tracking fin lodged into the log.
RCMP Constable Lesley Smith says "police were able to track down the owner of the boat and confirmed that the operator and passenger were not injured during the collision."
West Kelowna Marine were able to assist the owner with the recovery of the speedboat after using a crane to lift and dislodge the water craft from the log.
