BC Hydro and FortisBC crews have been busy today dealing with multiple downed power lines because of the high winds.
BC Hydro spokesperson, Dag Sharman says they've been scrambling to repair lines that have been brought down by falling trees and branches.
"Our infrastructure is exposed to the elements, and is in areas that are often difficult to access to, but that's just the necessity of running an electrical system where you have to go from one spot to another; you can't skip anywhere even if it's challenging to go through, you've got to go through all of that terrain and that brings some challenges," he says.
At last look - about 276 customers are still without power in West Kelowna, 138 in Peachland, and about 35-hundred in Lake Country.
In East Kelowna - about 163 FortisBC customers are still without power, about two dozen in other parts of Kelowna and around 101 in Joe Rich.
