Anxious times for residents and visitors watching BC Forestry crews battle the forest fire burning between Okanagan Falls and Oliver.
Oliver Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Summerville says the fire is moving away from a nearby RV park along Highway 97.
"They (BC Forestry) have it pretty much, from what I can see, under control anywhere near that area. Where the original area where it started, it was near the RV park. Now they can see the leftover burning embers and especially at night that can look pretty scary (to the public) to them and they see the flames and the smoke and that's an unknown thing. I don't see it coming back that way at all,"
Summerville says the Oliver Fire Department consists of 30 - 'paid on-call fire fighters' that are ready if called upon.
