A woman was killed Sunday afternoon in a three vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Birnie Road south of Vernon.
Upon arriving at the scene, just after 3:00 pm, RCMP, the BC Ambulance Service and Vernon Fire Rescue found good Samaritans administering first aid to those injured, however one woman died as a result of her injuries.
RCMP Constable Kelly Brett says "the investigation into this tragic incident is still on-going, however it is alleged by witnesses that one vehicle was driving dangerously just before the incident occurred." Police believe a vehicle was clipped by another car attempting pass - and the driver of the struck vehicle lost control and hit a rock face. The passenger in that vehicle was killed.
RCMP and the BC Coroners Service continue to investigate, but say driver inexperience could be a possible factor in the crash.
A total of three vehicles and seven people were involved in the collision.
There's no report on the extent of any other injuries.
