If you’re a business owner in Osoyoos you’ll want to listen closely to any calls from town hall, because it’s likely it’s not the town at all.
Posing as the Town of Osoyoos, a scammer is calling businesses, ordering them to close their doors, but Sarah Dynneson with the town says that isn’t in their jurisdiction.
She explains what bylaw officers can do. “They will be providing information and educating people and businesses. They will be checking in on businesses to make sure they're complying with the public health officer's requirement of physical distancing. And if you're not complying, they'll be reporting you to the RCMP or to the public health office."
Dynneson says residents can sign up for e-news on the town’s website to stay updated on everything going on.
