After getting a handle on clearing Kelowna's major streets, part of Kelowna's snow plowing crew will shift its focus to downtown.
The city says overnight snow clearing will be happening tonight in the downtown core, and is reminding people in downtown homes and businesses to keep vehicles off the main roads.
The city says that snow typically melts away from lower elevation areas like downtown, but that the sub-zero temperatures over the last couple weeks have prevented that from happening.
Once the downtown is finished, overnight clearing crews will turn their attention to the South Pandosy and Rutland areas.
The city's snow plowing fleet includes 21 snow removal trucks, three graders, and five sidewalk plows.
Priority 1 roads are major routes like Gordon Drive, while Priority 2 streets are called collector roads, such as Richter Street.
After the consecutive major snowfalls of the last couple weeks, crews are now working to clear Priority 2 roads.
Once that's complete, Priority 3 residential streets will be finished.
