October and November were both record-breaking months at Kelowna International Airport.
Those two months saw 150,947 and 143,346 passengers respectively, which breaks the old monthly records set in 2016.
Airport Director Sam Samaddar says this year's overall increase of almost 10% blew expectations for 2017 out of the water.
He says that will definitely be factored into projections for next year.
"We adjust them marginally - we're always very, very cautious that we don't overestimate our traffic growth. But we know as the first quarter of last year, that we had a tremendous response with the ski program. And we expect that response again for the first quarter of this coming year," he said.
August was the airport's busiest month of all time, with 179,153 passengers flying through.
Samaddar says after finishing the major renovation to the outbound baggage hall earlier this year, there's still lots planned for 2018.
"We're expanding an apron, to start with. We're doing some improvements to our intersection with the Highway (97) and Airport Way that'll be coming up. And then we're doing some detailed planning on expanding this air terminal building further to the south," he said.
December is typically the busiest month of the year for airports - last year saw 166,537 passengers come through, with more expected for 2017.
Samaddar says that should bode well for airlines to add more flights.
"We really expect that to happen, and all I can say is stay tuned - we'll have some announcements coming out of the new year, but we know that there's certainly going to be additional capacity into Toronto coming this summer," he said.
"We had over 1000 (additional) seats last year, so it's going to be up to about 1200 seats coming this summer into the Toronto market, and certainly added frequency into Vancouver."
He says the ski season is a major reason for the big increase in numbers, and expects that success to continue into the new year.
In the first 11 months of the year, passenger numbers were up 9.6% in 2017.
