The 35th annual spaghetti bridge building competition took place at Okanagan College today. Students from elementary through post secondary were tasked with building a bridge out of spaghetti, making them as light and strong as possible.
The structures had to be built a metre long and under 0.6 metres high, and had to withstand at least a 10 kilogram load to qualify. The top 3 teams in the heavyweight division won prizes of $1500, $1000 and $500.

Tyler Finley, Public Affairs with Okanagan College says the winning pair of Justin Dessert and Hanya Riddick are grade 9 students, and repeat champions! Finley says many of the students have bright futures as well. "Justin's brother, James, came second and he's coming into the college next year in mechanical engineering and the team of Justin and Hanya, Justin wants to be a teacher and hanya wants to be a doctor."
