The election in Peachland may be over, but the dust is far from settled.
Harry Gough won by a single vote, but current Mayor Cindy Fortin insisted that a judicial recount take place.
So on Monday, representatives from both sides met with election officials, who did an unofficial recount of the ballots. The result was a tie of 804 to 804.
"They're probably going to check that one more time," says Fortin. "If it is a tie, then that will automatically mean a judicial recount."
What could happen next is bizarre, to say the least.
"If it's still a tie (after the judicial recount), unbelievably; they just pull names out of a hat," says Fortin.
The decision on a possible judicial recount is expected to be announced tomorrow.
Fortin says roughly 52 percent of eligible voters actually voted in the Peachland election.
