Fixing the damage caused by a landslide in Peachland earlier this year will cost around $750,000.
Council has chosen to repair the slide area with a conventional earth import method, which is considered a long term, permanent fix. District staff and consultants are working with various provincial agencies to cut down on the costs of the project.
The slide came down on January 6th, blocking a lane on Highway 97 near Antlers Beach for a couple of hours. Groundwater is believed to have caused the slide.
Weather permitting, repairs will start in two weeks and take 4-6 weeks to complete. The material will be hauled overnight to reduce the impact on highway traffic, while placing and compaction will occur during daylight hours.
