On Friday afternoon the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called upon to assist with the arrest of a suspect, whom police allege to be responsible for the shooting carried out early Sunday evening south of Peachland.
On August 11, 2019 at approximately 5:47 p.m., West Kelowna RCMP received a report of shooting that took place outside a residence located in the 7200-block of Highway 97 south of Peachland.
The adult male victim, was treated and later released from hospital after suffering a gun shot wound. He continues to recover from his injury at this time.
“As a direct result of the actions of our front line officers at the scene, and the continued investigation led by the West Kelowna RCMP GIS team, a prime suspect was identified by police,” states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the Kelowna Regional RCMP Detachment.
“That suspect was taken into police custody, Friday afternoon in West Kelowna, with the assistance of the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team.”
The 31-year-old West Kelowna man remains in police custody at this time and faces a number of potential charges.
