Pebble Beach Park in West Kelowna will remain closed longer than expected for construction work.
The Park was initially closed from mid-January to the end of March, but was kept closed until the end of May. Now, with the City’s permission, the Park will remain closed until the end of June.
Crews have been working for the last several months on expanding the outfall from the Regional District’s Wastewater Treatment Plant’s outfall.
This will improve the efficiency of the Plant, which treats approximately 10 million litres of wastewater a day.
With that phase nearly complete, remediation of the waterfront park off Whitworth Road will follow over the next month.
Total costs for the project are $4.7 million.
