The BC SPCA in Penticton moved their shelter animals because of the Christie Mountain Wildfire.
Chief Operations Officer for the BC SPCA Parm Takhar says the shelter is in the evacation alert area.
The plan to moves the animals to Vernon was made Tuesday as the alerts were issued.
"There was a couple of things that came into play," Takhar explains. "I wanted to get the animals out of Penticton. I also wanted to make sure that we had space in Kelowna in case there were people being evacuated - we could then provide emergency boarding for animals in our location in Kelowna."
If there is a posibilty you could be evacuated and need help with your pet, Takhar says there is an prepardness plan at spca.bc.ca - search emergency.
