A Kelowna man facing charges of second-degree murder in the 2014 death of Chris Ausman now has a scheduled trial date, with jury selection taking place on November 19th.
After Steven Randy Pirko pleaded not guilty, and the judge presiding over the case confirming that there is, in fact, enough evidence to warrant a trial, Pirko will appear in court when his two-week trial kicks off in November.
Pirko was first arrested this past November after being linked to Ausman's death, which took place in 2014.
RCMP found Ausman's body stabbed to death on a Rutland sidewalk in November of that year and determined that homicide was indeed the case, although it took three years to link Pirko to the murder.
When the trial begins this fall, it will have been four years since the murder took place.
In addition to the murder charges, Pirko has a past criminal record that included breaking and entering, as well as breaching probation.
