Orchard Garden Plaza, located on Harvey Avenue near Burtch Road, will be undergoing some major changes as it's been sold.
A Vancouver based real estate investment group, Coal Harbour Realty Advisors Inc., has bought the plaza which currently houses a Bulk Barn, The Dollar Tree and Burtch Animal Hospital.
About 50 per cent of the plaza is currently vacant, including the standalone building where Buffet King used be before it closed in 2013. The new owners plan to demolish it and turn it into 22 additional parking stalls.
Construction fences were already up on Thursday shortly after the sale was announced. Colliers International Retail Specialist Chris Wills, who represented the sellers of the property, says the buyers are wasting no time.
“They’ve come out guns a blazing, they’re very excited about this purchase and they’re very excited for repositioning the property,” he says “and in the early spring, first couple weeks of April we’re going to re-launch the marketing and look forward to all the new tenants that are going to come to the shopping centre”
Wills says the public should notice changes to the plaza within the next few weeks.
Another change coming is the name- the new owners plan to rename the plaza to "Centre 97".
