On August 17, 2019 at 6:40 p.m. Kelowna RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by motor vehicle on Bernard Avenue near Lakeview Street, Kelowna. When police arrived, they located an injured pedestrian who had sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital. The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The Kelowna RCMP Municipal Traffic Services Section has taken conduct of the investigation and continues to gather and process evidence. The injured pedestrian has since been released from hospital and has support from family.
“The vehicle involved was described to be an older model grey Ford Focus sedan and was last scene driving east bound up Bernard Avenue,” says Cpl. Meghan Foster of the Kelowna RCMP. “The front bumper, hood and windshield were noticeably damaged as a result of the collision. Anyone that may have seen this vehicle in the following hours is asked to contact police.”
