Just when we thought spring was here, winter decided that it wasn't quite done with us yet here in Kelowna.
Some mildly stormy weather is on the way, thanks to a large low pressure system from the coast that will be bringing plenty of moisture to the Okanagan.
The first thing we'll notice in Kelowna will be some rain, and later on, coming up to the weekend, we could also see some snow, although it's very unlikely that it will accumulate as we go into a fairly sunny weekend.
But Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan says the worst of this weather will be on the upper elevations, specifically the highways.
"Travelling is definitely ill-advised through the mountain passes with this sort of late start to spring," says Castellan. "It's kind of like a winter event, relatively short lived."
Highways affected include the Connecter, the Coquihalla, and the Kootenay pass, all of which could receive anywhere from 10 to 15 centimeters.
Temperatures this week have been colder than normal for this time of year, with weekend lows going down to minus 6 overnight.
