Premier John Horgan viewed the Philpott Road wildfire from the air during a brief stop in the Okanagan Monday afternoon.
Horgan applauded the work of fire crews and volunteers for keeping everyone safe:
"Emergency personnel, whether it be BC Wildfire Service or Emergency BC, they are at the ready. The emergency BC personnel, they started with floods right here months ago now and then went right into fire season. They are exhausted but they continue to get up everyday to serve the people of BC".
The Philpott Road Wildfire broke out last Thursday and is now estimated at 465 hectares in size.
Horgan also spent the day visiting wildfire areas in Kamloops, Cache Creek and Ashcroft.
"If you are a smoker, for goodness sake don't be flicking your butts out the window or we are going to come down hard on you", Horgan added.
