The BC government has announced funding to build modular homes for the homeless in the Okanagan.
On Wednesday, the Housing Ministry announced two projects for Vernon, at a combined cost of 11 million dollars.
The first will add 45 beds onto an extension of the Howard House homeless shelter, while the other is to add a 53-unit project onto provincial land at 27th Avenue and 35th Street.
The announcement came on top of another 11 million dollars that will be spent on homeless housing in Prince Rupert and Terrace.
The City of Kelowna has said it continues to be in conversation with BC Housing about the possibility of bringing similar projects to Kelowna, as the government has committed 291 million dollars over the next two years for modulars.
