Funding for the Okanagan Rail Trail is now complete.
In just over two years, the fundraising goal of $7.8 million has been met thanks to a combination of government grants, trail ambassadors, and nearly 5,000 donors, who will be recognized on signs that will go up along the trail next year.
The Rail Trail Committee will now take over coordinating the development of the 50-kilometer trail, which will extend from Coldstream to Kelowna.
If all goes well with construction and permits, the trail could be completely open by the end of the summer.
One final fundraising event will be taking place this weekend: Silver Star’s third annual Rotary Ride in support of the trail. More information can be found at rotaryride.ca.
