BC Wildfire Service is implementing a "modified response" to a fire, burning across Okanagan Lake from Peachland, about two kilometres northeast of Rattlesnake Island.
Fire Information Officer Justine Hunse, says that means no crews have been dispatched to put it out.
Rather, BC Wildfire will monitor the fire and allow it to burn itself out.
"The fire is at two hectares in size, and is displaying rank one to rank two fire behaviour. So what that looks like, is a smouldering ground fire, with some occasional visible open flame," said Hunse.
She says by allowing the fire to burn, it will reduce fire fuel and allow the natural fire cycle to exist.
Officials say naturally, the grasslands of the Okanagan would burn every 7 to 15 years.
The fire is suspected to be human caused.
Currently, it's not threatening either public safety or any buildings in the area.
