After several complaints, the Kelowna RCMP are clamping down on vehicles that make excessive noise.
Over the next few weeks, volunteers will be out in full force with newly created 'Noise Watch' signage to educate motorists.
They will also be recording the vehicle license plates of offending vehicles for enforcement to follow up on.
“The Kelowna RCMP Municipal Traffic Section have already begun to take notice of excessively noisy vehicles while conducting our routine enforcement operations,” says Sgt. Patricia Cook, (Non-Commissioned Officer-In-Charge) of the Kelowna RCMP Municipal Traffic Section.
“We would ask all motorists to drive in a manner that limits vehicle noise and to respect the comfort of their neighbours and the community.”
Unnecessary noise from a vehicle can result in fine of 109 dollars.
