This year’s annual pavement management work comes to an end next week, with the north end of Ellis Street up next for repaving.
While preparation has already started on Ellis Street between Roanoke and Broadway avenues, milling and paving starts this week and is expected to be complete next Tuesday. Line marking will follow shortly thereafter. To accommodate installation of bike lanes on both sides of the street, the width of pavement on this section of Ellis Street will be increased.
While work is underway, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, as short-term lane closures or detours will be in effect. For public safety and quality control, traffic control personnel will direct motorists to temporarily stay off newly paved road segments.
The work is part of the City’s $3.5 million annual pavement management program, which will see approximately 40 lane kilometres of roads re-paved in 2019. Road repaving on Ellis Street is being combined with the Ellis Street bike lanes project, which is identified as a priority in the 2016 Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan.
