British Columbians wanting to help impacted residents in flood-devastated regions of British Columbia will have their donation doubled thanks to a commitment from the B.C. government to provide up to $20 million in matching donations up until July 31st, 2018 to the Canadian Red Cross B.C. Floods Appeal. Red Cross teams are actively supporting local authorities to meet the urgent needs of thousands of impacted British Columbians.
Donations provide relief to individuals and families in flood-impacted communities. Support is based on needs identified in cooperation with local, First Nation, and provincial government response efforts, and may include assistance like food, shelter, and clothing, as well as re-entry support and longer-term recovery. "Our hearts are with everyone being impacted by these devastating floods. We know how strong and resilient the people of British Columbia are and the Canadian Red Cross is here to support communities now and in the weeks to come. We welcome this commitment from the B.C. government and encourage people to join us by donating to support British Columbians affected by the floods," said Kimberley Nemrava, Vice-President of B.C. and Yukon Canadian Red Cross
