The Central Okanagan Regional District is supporting Kelowna's efforts to bring back the Auxiliary Police Program.
The Regional District has agreed to pen a letter to Premier John Horgan, asking him to reinstate the Auxiliary program as soon as possible.
The board was unanimous in their decision, according to Spokesperson Bruce Smith.
"They believe in the program. There's minimal tax impact on citizens and it's a valuable program that has proved its worth in the past."
Both Kelowna and the Regional District want to bring the program back as soon as possible, so that volunteers can be trained before the Summer of 2019.
