13 properties near Osoyoos have been put on evacuation alert.
Most of the affected residences are on Sumac Road in Cawston.
This as crews continue to battle a 250-hectare wildfire near Richter Creek.
The blaze was sparked Monday after a roadside car fire ignited grass along Highway 3.
It tripled in size overnight.

An out of control wildfire near Osoyoos has tripled in size just a day after it was first discovered.
According to Kevin Skrepnek with the BC Wildfire Service, the Richter Creek fire is burning uphill in difficult terrain. There are 40 firefighters and two helicopters on site battling the blaze, with more personnel expected to arrive Tuesday afternoon.
A post on the Wildfire Service's website says the fire is human caused. It's believed flames from a car fire ignited grass nearby, which has since grown into the BC's most prominent active wildfire.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding a new fire just west of Osoyoos.
The 10 hectare fire near Richter Creek is currently classified as 'out of control'.
Twenty-eight firefighters and a pair of helicopters are working to douse the flames.
It's believed the fire was human caused.
