The Kelowna Rockets announced today they have acquired 20-year-old defenceman Kayden Sadhra-Kang from the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for overage defenceman Jackson DeSouza.
“A veteran in the league, Sadhra-Kang will provide additional leadership to our younger defencemen,” said Rockets president and general manager, Bruce Hamilton. “Jackson asked to be moved, it took a while, but we were able to accommodate his request. We thank him for his time as Rocket and wish him all the best moving forward.”
Sadhra-Kang has appeared in 27 games for Brandon this season, recording seven points (1G, 7A), a plus/minus rating of +6 and 30 penalty minutes. The 6’4, 208-pound right shot defenceman has appeared in 158 games over the last four seasons, posting 41 points (5G, 36A), a +28 plus/minus rating and 110 penalty minutes.
DeSouza has appeared in 15 games for Kelowna this year, posting seven points (1G, 7A), a +2 plus/minus rating and 31 penalty minutes. Over the last six seasons he has played in 151 games with Kelowna, posting 38 points (8G, 30A), a +5 plus/minus rating and 161 penalty minutes.
Sadhra-Kang is expected to join the Rockets this weekend when they hit the road, he will wear number 27.
