The Kelowna Rockets know where their bread has been buttered. They won't turn their back on their fans.
The proof was in the pudding this morning at a news conference at Prospera Place when the organization released details on what hockey fans will have to fork over to watch the 2020 Kia Memorial Cup.
Being a season ticket holder is not only the best way, but possibly the only way to watch the 10 day tournament next May.
Memorial Cup packages have been priced at $567.00 plus taxes. That enables Kelowna Rockets season ticket holders to attend all six round robin games, a possible tie breaker, the semi finals and the championship game.
General Manager Bruce Hamilton says the packages, in his mind, are reasonably priced.
"It was designed to not be a money grab at all. It is designed to bring this thing to the community and yet try to find a way to pay for itself. Keeping in mind that our season ticket holders are the people that make this engine run".
Prospera Place seats 6,007 fans. Five thousand of those seats are designed for local hockey fans. The remaining thousand are for out of town fans and corporate sponsors.
"The most important thing for us is to have this thing sold out so it looks great across the country too," Hamilton added.
As an added incentive, those season ticket holders that purchase Memorial Cup packages before May 3rd will enter to win the 'Ultimate VIP 2020 Memorial Cup Experience' which includes two Memorial Cup packages, jersey's, Memorial Cup apparel, tickets to the opening banquet gala and other events.
