The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign in Kelowna is running about 50 thousand dollars behind last year, with 3 weeks to go before Christmas.
Salvation Army Director Darryl Burry believes that rotating strikes at the post office through November may have something to do with it, as their national campaign is down about 40 percent. A good chunk of donations to the Salvation Army come in by mail traditionally. That pile of cheques is smaller this year than others.
Burry remains confident that Kelowna's generous community spirit will help them meet their goal for 2018. He says, "Every year there's always ebbs and flows concerning how donations come in".
