The South East Kelowna Irrigation District has shut off the main line water supply for an emergency repair. Slide activity and unstable slope conditions caused a washout that made it necessary to temporarily shut off the water.
“It’s right on the east side of the Canyon Creek(KLO Creek) canyon…the intake is about 2 and a half kilometres upstream from where this washout occurred,” according to SEKID General Manager, Toby Pike.
The shutoff allows for crews to enter into the area with equipment to stabilize the slope, and Pike hopes the work will be completed tonight between 6pm and 8pm.
This shut down will affect the entire District, with the exception of residents who use well water from the Hall Road well.
