The popular Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish is closed after its cable broke sending several cabins to ground early Saturday morning.
Officials say a security guard heard a large crash at around 4:30 a.m.
The investigation is still in its early stages, but their initial assessment suggests that a cable was cut.
RCMP report they are still assessing the damage, but so far there has been no indication of mechanical or environmental cause.
The gondola wasn't in operation when the cabins fell, and no one was injured.
The Sea-to-Sky gondola website says it will be closed for the foreseeable future
