The BC Government and Interior Health are celebrating the opening of a new Seniors Health and Wellness Centre in Kelowna, located in the Cottonwoods Care Centre on Ethel Street.
In addition to health assessment and treatments, the centre provides education and connections to other services to help seniors access programs promoting health and wellness, helping them live independently for as long as possible.
Interior Health Board Chair John O'Fee says the program aims to reduce emergency department visits and hospital admissions, and avoid premature placement in long-term care facilities.
A Seniors Health and Wellness Centre will also be introduced in Kamloops this spring.
